This
program provides a robust research platform, empowering scholars to pursue a
Doctor of Philosophy, Doctor of Engineering, or Doctor of Science degree with
instruction, supervision, and dissertation work conducted entirely in English.

Recommendation MEXT Scholarship
The MEXT (Ministry of Education,
Culture, Sports, Science and Technology) Scholarship offers a comprehensive
package to support selected scholars. Benefits include:

Full coverage of
application, admission, and tuition fees.
·
A monthly stipend of 145,000
yen, with an additional regional allowance of 3,000 yen.
·
Round-trip airfare between
the awardee’s home country and Japan.
·
The scholarship is valid for
up to three years, contingent on satisfactory academic performance.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following
eligibility requirements:
·
Hold or expect to hold a
Master’s degree before enrollment.
·
Be a national of a country
with diplomatic relations with Japan.
·
Be under 35 years of age as
of April 1, 2025 (born on or after April 2, 1990).
·
Exhibit outstanding academic
performance.
·
Demonstrate English
proficiency with a minimum score of 72 on TOEFL (IBT) or 5.5 on IELTS
(equivalent to CEFR B2).
·
Be in good physical and
mental health.
·
Reside outside Japan at the
time of application and not possess Japanese nationality.
·
Be available to arrive in
Japan by the end of September 2025.
Application Process
To apply for the MEXT Scholarship
through Saitama University’s ESITI Program, applicants must follow these steps:
1.
Submit all required
documents via email to the Foreign Student Office (rese@gr.saitama-u.ac.jp)
before the deadline, followed by postal submission through international postal
services.
2. Required documents include the application form (Form A – https://park.saitama-u.ac.jp/~rese/admission.html), a
research plan (Form B), certificates of academic achievements, English
proficiency documentation, and letters of recommendation.
3.
Shortlisted candidates will
undergo an evaluation process, which includes online interviews and potentially
a mathematics exam based on the supervisor’s requirements.
4.
Final nomination lists are
submitted to MEXT for approval.
